Stormbreak

We are delighted to be a stormbreak school. In 2023 we were lucky enough to take part in the stormbreak training package for Dorset Schools training up some staff members who have then trained up the rest of the staff team.

Stormbreak CIO is a registered charity in England & Wales which has the aim to improve children's mental health through movement, equipping them with sustainable, transferable skills and coping strategies to thrive during the complex demands of growth into adult life.

Today’s children move less than ever before whilst mental health issues are on the rise. We have a responsibility to serve our children better amongst the growing crisis in children’s mental health in the UK. One way to help is by using stormbreak.

When the storm rages we teach children to find shelter and create light, calm and change through movement. What if we could inspire mentally healthy movement to help children become happier, healthier humans, forever? Through stormbreak we believe we can.

As a school we believe in the importance of supporting the mental health and wellbeing of our children and staff. This year one of our main School Development Focus areas is to fully embed the stormbreak sessions across the whole school. The staff have all received training and we are ready to launch it across the school.

All children and staff at St George's have access to Stormbreak sessions each day, both in class and at breaktimes.

Stormbreak develops the following concepts through mentally healthy movement:

  • Resilience
  • Relationships
  • Self-care
  • Self-worth
  • Hope and Optimism

Each term we will take one area as our whole school focus.

This term the focus is Relationships.

As well as taking part in stormbreaks during the school day your child can also take part in stormbreak at home and find a happy healthier self. They can also complete challenges and track their progress.  Why not create an account for your child today?
